Compassion & Resilience Fellowship 2022 - 2023

We offer the FUR-TRD Compassion and Resilience Fellowship since 2022 in partnership with The Foundation for Universal Responsibility (FUR) of His Holiness The Dalai Lama.

Designed as a 3-month virtual program, the Compassion and Resilience Fellowship addressed an exigency made visible by the Covid pandemic and its psychological fallout– the need to systematically prepare for an increasingly volatile and unpredictable future.

The Fellowship has provided 53 individuals between 21 and 30 years the opportunity to enhance their psycho-social skills and get future-ready!

Lucky is an explorer, an artist & an extrovert. She has graduated with a B.El.Ed from the University of Delhi & is currently completing her Masters from Ambedkar University. Her passions lie in cooking, sketching & writing poetry. Lucky hopes the Fellowship will open her mind to new avenues & help shape her perspective on life.

Aamna is elated to be a part of Compassion & Resilience Fellowship as she believes that she will get opportunities for growing intellectually, with meaningful connections between the psychosocial & the psycho-spiritual. In the future, she sees herself building abundantly humane classrooms in educational spaces. She has a background in Psychology.

Keerthana Paulraj

Keerthana Paulraj is an educator, mindfulness practitioner & advocate of socio-emotional learning. With a background in psychology & education, her interests lie in mental health & wellbeing. She currently curate’s workshops & writes articles for her organisation, Centre for Mindful Presence. She is excited to be a part of the Compassion & Resilience Fellowship because she wishes to engage with people, tools & resources that will enable her to become a better person.

Tanvi Hegade

A dance artiste and language professional working at the intersections of movement, social impact and languages, Tanvi is currently in the process of incubating ideas about forming insightful and honest ways of dialogue and connections with people through art. She believes that compassion & resilience form the essence of individual and collective well-being, and looks forward to delving deeper into these qualities and understanding how we can navigate the present state of the world, both in the inner and outer sense.

 

Anando Ghosh

A linguist turned clinical psychologist, Anando is interested in working in the area of child & adolescent mental health through an interdisciplinary lens that combines perspectives from global health, education & medical anthropology to address children’s psychosocial needs. He is excited to be part of the Fellowship primarily because of its curriculum that adopts an eclectic approach by combining insights from resilience science, positive psychology, existential therapy & Buddhist philosophy!

 

Arpita Bhansali

Arpita is always eager to connect with others, and to make a positive impact on the world. Having graduated from the Srishti Institute, Bangalore in B.Des majoring in Creative Education, she currently works as a Curriculum Designer at the Riverside Learning Center. She is a part of the C&R Fellowship to learn how to love and spread love.

Madhumitha Sivanandam

Madhumitha is an English language trainer & is passionate about teaching & training. She’s an empath which makes her a good listener. She likes to keep herself updated. She’s thrilled to be a part of the Fellowship which she believes she has a lot to learn from!

Jadav Mansi Chandrakant

Living life in both a flow & a pragmatic manner, Mansi strives for perfection & bringing out the best in every situation. She believes that whatever happens, happens for some reason. She firmly believes that in this digital era everyone should be aware of their screen timing & its impact on mental health.

Rakhi is a B.El.Ed graduate from University of Delhi & is now pursuing a Masters in Education from Ambedkar University, Delhi. She aspires to do research & work in the field of education & child psychology, and to be an asset to the younger population. She enjoys traveling, art & craft, reading motivational books & spending time in the lap of nature. She is excited to be part of this Fellowship as it opens up the possibility of living life with a positive perspective.

Riya Kwattra

Riya Kwattra is someone who is fascinated by all the things which are odd, old or both. A person with a keen interest in the lives of children, gender & mental health, she currently works with adolescent girls to empower them with agency & confidence. She loves to paint & to read. She finds the idea of resilience & mental health extremely fascinating. She believes that this Fellowship will help her understand herself better.

Rumi Sharma

Rumi A.K.A. Mx. Ria Sharma is a Mind coach, TEDx speaker, Human Rights youth activist & Mind-Body Medicine Interventionist. They envision a world where everyone believes in ‘Living in Love’, interacting with its various layers with gentleness & compassion. They have always been intrigued by Buddhist philosophy as well as psychology & hopes that gaining a deeper insight into these spheres will make her more equipped to be available for people as well as serve them. The Compassion & Resilience fellowship is an honourable opportunity to develop the right mindset to become that social contributor.

Sarani has worked in the supply chain management domain for over six years. Her superpower lies in being persistent about her goals, building meaningful relationships with the people around her & she is extremely passionate about gender equity.

Saurabh is a researcher, storyteller, behavioural science & film enthusiast. With all the ups & downs he has faced in his personal & professional life, his journey hasn’t been easy. But with his peak years ahead, Saurabh hopes to unlearn & learn things over the course of his life, the first step to which, for him, is the C&R Fellowship. He hopes to pass his knowledge on to the younger generation while staying relatable & relevant.

Shiby Nair

A Mindfulness-based Embodied Listening Facilitator, Shiby has her independent practice & holds listening spaces with a Queer Affirmative Lens. She also runs a Crochet Studio where she spends time creating Amigurumi & doing fun experiments with yarn. Shiby has always been fascinated by the question, ‘What really is education?’ & keeps that at the core of her journey in unlearning, relearning & designing a slow-paced intentional living. Through this fellowship, she looks forward to connecting with an extended community of learners and also exploring how Compassion & Resilience for self & others can be more actionable in everyday living.

Introducing Arpit, who has a Master’s in Psychosocial Clinical Studies and comes with a unique blend of philosophical depth and a penchant for self-deprecating humour. In his free time, he explores his creativity and finds solace in the art of cooking. Arpit’s motivation for joining the Fellowship is to explore and embrace different aspects of his sense of self. In this space, he hopes to find compassion and resilience as he embarks on his journey towards self-acceptance.

Gayathri Naidu

Introducing Gayathri, a post-graduate in Political Science who is currently in an exploratory phase in life. She is deeply passionate about child rights, mental health, women’s rights, LGBTQAI+ advocacy. Gayathri believes the C&R Fellowship offers an opportunity for self-discovery and personal growth and looks forward to the journey of learning, unlearning, and relearning, with a heartfelt desire to become a better individual for the benefit of her community.

Introducing Ishita, an undergraduate student from Delhi specializing in Psychology, Sociology, and English. With a keen interest in unravelling the often overlooked socio-cultural and systemic influences on individual mental health and overall well-being, Ishita has actively volunteered with organizations to enhance the accessibility of mental healthcare services and knowledge in society. She looks forward to the unique and inclusive perspective that the Fellowship offers towards mental health and wellbeing.

Introducing Mridubhashini, a dedicated Primary Teacher who has been nurturing young minds for over 12 years. Currently inspiring the next generation at DPS Noida, she cherishes the profound connections she creates with children, recognizing them as the invaluable pillars of our society. Mridubhashini envisions a society where simple pleasures surpass the allure of wealth. She recognizes the rare opportunity for deep internal learning that the Fellowship offers, and eagerly looks forward to immersing herself in this journey.

Neha Achu Abraham

Introducing Neha, a history buff who is an archivist by profession and an artist and photographer by passion. She works at Eka Archiving Services and holds a Master’s degree in Ancient Indian History, Culture, and Archaeology. Through her travels, she embraces new experiences and cherishes the calming effects of line art and photography. Neha embraces the belief that the world needs more kind individuals, not just successful ones. At the C&R Fellowship, she looks forward to gaining self-insight and a more optimistic perspective on life.

Pallavi Madan

Introducing Pallavi, an animal lover, selenophile, and practising Counselling Psychologist with a keen interest in pursuing and advocating research in mental health. In her free time, she can be found buried in her books with her dogs or listening to podcasts and trying to make sense of the world through a psychosocial lens. Pallavi believes in the power of human connection for personal and collective growth: “Love is the only way to grasp another human being in the innermost core of their personality.” Pallavi hopes to connect with people and collectively unfold the nuances of our inner and outer world through the C&R Fellowship.

Pallavi Pratibha

Introducing Pratibha, a writer and researcher from Bihar, currently residing in Ranchi. With a background in Economics, Rural Development and Governance, she specializes in disability, caste, and gender. Pratibha’s journey also involves grappling with her illness and self-perceived mediocrity as a writer and poet. She embraces the unique opportunity presented by the C&R Fellowship to connect with like-minded individuals, confront her internal conflicts, and ultimately find acceptance within herse

Introducing Prashasti, a Psychology graduate from Delhi University and a Nepalese citizen, who enjoys psychoanalyzing the smallest details, embracing art, rock bands, and engaging discussions on topics like gender, empowerment, intersectionality, and mental health. With an admiration for passionate individuals who challenge societal norms, she strives to be one of them by expressing herself uniquely. Through the C&R Fellowship, Prashasti hopes to find an inclusive space where she can openly share he life experiences and signature dark humour and collectively cultivate psychosocial tools to enhance wellbeing.

Prerna Chauhan

Introducing Prerna, a trained Psychologist with a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Psychology, who aims to help people deal with mental health issues in a non-judgmental way. She has experience in working with different age groups and focuses on depression, stress, relationships, addiction, and anxiety through her client-centred, eclectic approach. In her free time, she enjoys exploring geopolitics, Indic civilization, and spending time in nature. She hopes the C&R Fellowship will provide her a platform to apply her knowledge and skills to promote mental health and well-being, while allowing her to foster compassion and resilience within.

Richa Vashista

Introducing Richa, an Integrative Psychologist and a certified Suicide First Responder with an M.A in Clinical Psychology. Currently serving as the Chief Mental Health Expert at AtEase, they specialize in LGBTQIA+ issues, perinatal mental health, trauma, borderline personality disorder, workplace mental health, and family systems and relationships. As a C&R Fellow, they are eager to embark on a journey of self-growth, as both compassion and resilience are integral aspects of their being. They eagerly await the transformative experiences that this Fellowship will bring.

Rohini Ghosh

Introducing Rohini, a first-year Master’s student in Psychology who is passionate about exploring the intricacies of human emotions and the complexities of the human psyche. With a penchant for trying new things, from experimenting with hair color to baking cookies, she enjoys immersing herself in various hobbies and experiences. For her, the C&R Fellowship represents a unique opportunity to prioritize her own journey rather than focusing solely on building an impressive resume.

Introducing Sandra, an undergraduate in Psychology at Delhi University who aspires to make a meaningful contribution to the field of mental health care in India. As a feminist and social psychology enthusiast, she also finds solace in rage reading and singing along to K-pop. Sandra eagerly awaits the day when Coldplay comes to India, as she envisions herself shedding tears of joy at their concert. Through the C&R Fellowship, Sandra is excited to learn, grow, and connect with inspiring individuals who share her commitment to compassion and resilience.

Introducing Tanisha, a mental health professional, who has actively contributed to the field through content creation, therapy sessions, workshops, support groups, and fostering safe spaces for mental health discussions. Emphasizing mindfulness, community support, and the rejuvenating power of nature, she advocates for a balanced approach to life. Tanisha finds joy in reading, hiking, swimming, and playing the sitar, as ways of enriching her well-being. Her holistic perspective and belief in the strength derived from a supportive community make her a compassionate and invaluable C&R Fellow.

Shanu Singh

Introducing Shanu, an MA Psychology student from Bhopal School of Social Sciences. With a deep commitment to improving mental health, Shanu aspires to research effective parenting methods to combat inter-generational trauma and teach Psychology to school students in an engaging manner. Having completed courses in Queer Affirmative Counselling Practice and Family Therapy, Shanu also aims to learn pre-marital counselling and emphasizes its importance over traditional practices like kundli-matching. Shanu hopes the C&R Fellowship will help her learn how to flourish in challenging circumstances.

Vandana Sood-Giddings

Introducing Vandana, a documentary filmmaker, media consultant, film professor, and yoga teacher. She is the founder of Prana Buzz and holds an MFA in Integrated Media Arts from Hunter College-CUNY. Vandana’s diverse background includes work at MTV and PBS in New York City, and she has been teaching yoga globally for 15 years. Currently, she is a professor at the School of Film and Photography at Montana State University, United States.

Vijayendra Kadabal

Introducing Vijayendra, a Chevening Scholar who currently leads the youth movement ‘Yuva Shakti’ in Karnataka which nurtures 15000+ grassroots youth to become constitutionally aware and human rights defenders. With over 7 years of experience working with children and youth across remote areas of India, including Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Odisha, Vijay possesses an in-depth understanding of rural communities. Beyond his advocacy work, Vijay is a hodophile, an avid trekker, a movie enthusiast, and a trained Classical Carnatic singer. He serves as a board member for Hindus for Human Rights, a US-based human-rights organization.

Dr Sneha Rooh is a Palliative Physician, somatic and arts-based therapist. She is the founder of Orikalankini- an organisation that is changing narratives around menstruation and sexuality in India through art and dialogue. Dr Sneha is passionate about helping people bring about personal and social change with an embodied and systemic approach.

Daniel Mackler

Daniel Mackler is a former psychotherapist and presently a musician, filmmaker, Youtuber, and writer based in New York. He is most widely known for his film series including the 2008 documentary Take These Broken Wings, on recovery from schizophrenia without medication, and the 2011 documentaries Healing Homes and Open Dialogue, both on alternative treatment programs for psychosis. He is also the co-author of the 2010 book A Way Out of Madness, and the co-editor of Beyond Medication. Daniel sees our world growing more pathological, confused and disturbed by the vagaries of modern living, yet he writes with great hope – both for individual and collective healing, and offers a new perspective – on relationships, parenting, family systems, on manifesting the best of ourselves, and the future of our species.

Trina envisions a world where society is being developed by the most unlikely leaders from unlikely places.
In order to find and nurture these leaders, Trina co-founded Kranti, an organisation that transforms girls from Mumbai’s Red Light Areas into agents of social change. As Director of Venture and Fellowship for Ashoka, South Asia, Trina searched, selected, celebrated and supported the leading social entrepreneurs of our times to scale their work globally.

Dr. Pongkhi Bujorbarua

Dr. Pongkhi Bujorbarua has a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Washington, Seattle. She works with the refugee population in the United States, focusing on the mental health issues (PTSD, anxiety, depression, etc.) of children coping with traumatic experiences. She is the Founder of ‘Sanchayan’, a non-profit corporation based in Seattle, Washington with the mission to contribute to the well-being of children and their families through creative practices. Through Sanchayan, Dr. Bujorbarua strives to provide a platform for alternative modalities, such as dance, movement, art, music, poetry, and play for dealing with emotional trauma.

Aditi Rao Gunjan

Aditi Rao, an upcoming artiste from Hyderabad has undergone training in Bharatanatyam for the last 18 years under the guidance of her guru, Padmashree Dr. Ananda Shankar Jayant. She has
also pursued a diploma in Movement arts and mixed media from Attakkalari Centre for movement arts, Bengaluru, where she was trained in Contemporary dance techniques, Ballet,
Kalaripayattu, Yoga, Pilates, light design and art history.
She is an empanelled artiste with Doordarshan, Hyderabad and also holds a certificate diploma in Bharatanatyam from Potti Shreeramulu University, Hyderabad.
She has worked as a senior instructor at the Choreotheque School of contemporary dance, Delhi.
She has also worked as a dance eduation specialist, teaching creative movement to kids, with Fitkids pvt ltd, New Delhi.
She has performed at major national and international festivals like the PECDA festival, Chennai, Artists Collaboration, Dabaki,Cambodia; 70th Indian Independence Day Celebrations,
Switzerland; TEDx Hyderabad; International dance festivals in South Korea and China, NCPA, Mumbai and many more.
Aditi conducts regular classes and workshops in Bharatanatyam, creative movement, body conditioning and contemporary dance techniques in the city.

Compassion & Resilience Leadership Program 2024 Announcement

The Red Door in partnership with the Foundation for Holistic Flourishing is proud to announce the Compassion and Resilience Leadership Program 2024!

After two successful years of the Compassion & Resilience Fellowship with four incredible batches, the Fellowship has been reimagined as a Leadership Program focused on building collective Resilience.

This emerges from The Red Door’s commitment towards creating a Resilience-affirming ecosystem founded on compassion and peer support, that enables individuals to consolidate their Resilience skills while helping others build theirs.

Designed as a virtual program consisting of 50 hours of intensive workshops across three months, the Compassion and Resilience Leadership Program will help 25 individuals build core psycho-social skills to enhance their capacity to thrive in an increasingly challenging world, while strengthening their potential to lead the charge in building resilient communities.

As part of this vision, the Program includes a three month Project Stage where Fellows will conduct Resilience-building sessions within the organizations/communities they work with.
